The Promise of the Holy Spirit

Jesus Christ is God’s promise to us, His protection for us and His provision for us. When we believe in Jesus Christ, we receive the power and presence of the Holy Spirit that lives and breathes and moves in our lives. His purpose is to guide us into truth and glorify Jesus Christ our Lord.

(John 7:37-39)

On the last and most important day of the festival, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me[a] and drink.

  1. Jesus is our Promise: He Appeals
    1. He identifies all of us who are broken.
    2. He beckons us to Himself.
    3. He beckons us to believe.

The one who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water  flow  from deep within him.”

  1. Jesus is our Protection: He Awakens
    1. The Saved: Believe
    2. The Scriptures: Bond
    3. The Streams: Burst forth.

He said this about the Spirit.  Those who believed in Jesus were going to receive the Spirit,  for the Spirit had not yet been given because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

  1. Jesus is our Provision: He Assures
    1. His Advocate
    2. His Adopted
    3. His Ascension
