There’s a strange tension in the air that day.

The road is loud. Palms are waving. Voices are rising.

It feels like revival. It looks like victory.

But Jesus sees through the noise.

From the back of that donkey, He doesn’t just see a crowd…He sees a countdown.

Because the same voices shouting “Hosanna!”
will soon cry “Crucify Him.”

The same hands waving palms will either disappear… or turn against Him.

And still—He rides forward. Not confused. Not surprised. Not discouraged.

He knows exactly what kind of worship He’s receiving.

Loud… but not loyal.
Passionate… but not surrendered.
Excited… but not transformed.

They don’t want Him but want what they think He’ll give them.

Freedom from Rome. Relief from pressure. A king who fits their agenda.

But Jesus didn’t come to fit expectations or agendas.
He came to crush sin, not Rome.
To conquer death, not Caesar.
To save souls, not just situations.

And when He doesn’t meet their version of victory…The crowd turns.

Do we follow Jesus… or just our agendas we want Him to fill?

It’s easy to wave palms when life feels hopeful.
It’s easy to sing when prayers are being answered.

But what about when—

  • The healing doesn’t come?
  • The door stays closed?
  • The pressure increases instead of lifts?

Do we still say, “Blessed is He…” —or do we quietly shrink back?

Jesus shows us a different kind of King

He doesn’t ride in on a warhorse.
He doesn’t flex power.
He doesn’t play to the crowd.

He comes gentle and lowly.
Intentional.

Not to take a throne…but to embrace a cross.

Because real love doesn’t entertain at shallow praise.
And real kingship isn’t proven by applause—it’s proven by sacrifice.

From Palms to Thorns

Jesus saw the palms…but He also saw the thorns.

He heard the praise…but He carried the weight of the cross.

And still—He rode on.

For you.

Not because your worship was perfect…
but because His love is.
