Grief has a way of closing in. It tightens its grip around your heart until even hope feels
out of reach.

Mary stood at the tomb, eyes full of tears, heart full of questions. She saw angels—and
didn’t flinch. She saw Jesus—and didn’t recognize Him.

That’s what grief does. It doesn’t mean you don’t love Jesus. It just means the pain is
overwhelming.

But Jesus doesn’t leave her there.

He speaks her name.

Not a sermon. Not a lecture. Just… “Mary.”

And in that moment, grief loses its grip.

Because the voice of Jesus cuts through the noise of sorrow like light through a storm.

He doesn’t just remove the pain—He reorients the person.

He reminds her: You’re not lost.
He refocuses her: This isn’t the end.
He reveals Himself: I am alive… and I am reigning.

And then He sends her.

From weeping… to witnessing.
From broken… to bold.

That’s what the Gospel does.

Reflection: Where has grief grown louder than the voice of Jesus in your life?

Response: Slow down. Open His Word. Listen again. Because He still speaks.
And He still calls His own… by name.
