One of the greatest struggles in the Christian life is waiting.
We often expect God to move quickly. We pray, trust, and obey, believing that answers
should soon follow. Yet many times God works differently than we expect.
Zechariah and Elizabeth had spent years carrying the burden of childlessness. They
were faithful, righteous, and devoted to God. Yet their circumstances remained
unchanged. To many observers, it may have appeared that God had forgotten them.
But God had not forgotten.
While they were waiting, God was preparing. While they were hurting, God was
working. While heaven seemed silent, God's sovereign plan was unfolding perfectly.
The same is true for us.
God's delays are not His denials. His silence is not His absence. His timing is never
late, even when it feels late to us. Perhaps there is an area of your life where you have
become discouraged. A burden you have carried for years. A prayer that seems
unanswered. A promise that feels distant.
Remember Luke 1.
The God who remembered Zechariah and Elizabeth remembers you.
He sees what others do not see.
He knows what others do not know.
He is working where you cannot yet see.
The greatest proof that God has not forgotten us is Jesus Christ. At exactly the right
time, God sent His Son into the world to save sinners. If God did not forget His promise
of redemption, He will not forget His children.
Keep trusting. Keep praying. Keep waiting. Keep believing. Keeping on is proof of your
faith in Jesus. God has not forgotten you.
