The temple is settled.

The tables are back in their place…
but something has shifted.

The religious system is still standing—but it’s been exposed.

And now… they want answers.

The Confrontation of Authority (Challenging His Authority)

They approach Him carefully.

Not to learn from Him but trap Him.

“By what authority are You doing these things?”

It’s not an honest question. It’s a loaded one. Because if they can discredit His
authority… they can dismiss His message.

But Jesus brilliantly turns the question back on them.

And suddenly, the ones who looked confident…find themselves exposed.

Because when your heart is set against truth…no answer will ever satisfy you.

The Condemnation of Hypocrisy (Exposing False Religion)

Then Jesus goes straight at their hearts.

Parables. Warnings. Woes.

He doesn’t soften it, nor does He ease into it.

He calls out:

  • Their empty leadership
  • Their performative righteousness
  • Their spiritual pride dressed up as devotion

“These people honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.”

What was flipped on Monday externally…is now exposed internally.

The Commendation of Humility (The Widow’s Offering)

And then… almost hidden in the noise…

A widow and two small coins.

No spotlight. No recognition. No platform.

But Jesus sees her.

While others give out of abundance… she gives out of surrender.

And Jesus says: “That’s what I want”

Not the size of the gift—but the depth of the trust.

While the religious leaders perform…she pours out everything.

The Call to Watchfulness (Preparing for What’s Coming)

Then Jesus steps away from the temple.

Up on the Mount of Olives… and He speaks of what’s ahead.

Trials. Deception. Waiting. Return. Because following Him won’t be easy.

So, He says: “Stay alert… be ready… endure.”

In other words:

“Don’t just respond in the moment—remain with Me for the long haul.”

Final Reflection

The crowd is thinning, and the tension is rising.

Yet Jesus is not backing down.

He’s not trying to win approval.
He’s making truth unmistakably crystal clear.

Because the same voices that shouted Hosanna… are still deciding what to do with Him.

And we are too.

So today, let Him ask you:

Are you questioning His authority… or submitting to it?
Are you performing… or surrendering?
Are you giving what’s easy… or trusting Him with everything?

Because truth has a way of finding us.

And when it does…
you don’t just hear it
— you have to decide.
